Chief Travis Crume has dedicated his career to serving the citizens of Southern Oregon through leadership, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to public safety. Since becoming Fire Chief of Jackson County Fire District #4 in 2023, he has focused on strengthening emergency response capabilities, investing in personnel, and building a resilient organization prepared to meet the evolving needs of the Upper Rogue communities.

Although born in Southern California, Travis has spent most of his life in the Rogue Valley. He grew up exploring the Rogue River, Lost Creek Lake, and the forests of the Upper Rogue—places he is now honored to help protect. His connection to the community is both personal and professional, and it shapes his commitment to preserving the area's exceptional quality of life.

Travis began his fire service career in 2009 as a volunteer firefighter with Jackson County Fire District #1. In 2012, he joined Evans Valley Fire District as Training Officer, where he developed firefighter training programs and helped build the next generation of emergency responders. He was appointed Fire Chief of Evans Valley Fire District in 2018 before accepting the position of Fire Chief for Jackson County Fire District #4 in 2023.

He holds a degree in Fire Science from Rogue Community College and has served in numerous regional leadership roles. Travis is the past President of the Rogue Valley Fire Chiefs Association (RVFCA) and Rogue Interagency Training Association (RITA), and has served as a Fire Science instructor at Rogue Community College. He is an active participant in regional emergency management, wildfire preparedness, and interagency collaboration throughout Southern Oregon.

Under Chief Crume's leadership, Jackson County Fire District #4 has expanded firefighter training opportunities, modernized emergency response capabilities, secured significant grant funding, enhanced community risk reduction programs, and advanced long-term capital improvement projects that will benefit the District for decades to come. He believes strong partnerships, sound fiscal management, and investment in people are the foundation of an exceptional fire district.

Chief Crume's leadership philosophy is simple: serve with integrity, lead by example, and never lose sight of the community. He believes that every decision should support the firefighters who answer the call and the citizens who place their trust in the District.

"Our responsibility extends beyond responding to emergencies. We are entrusted with protecting our community, preparing for tomorrow's challenges, and leaving the District stronger than we found it." - Chief Crume
